STUDY ABROAD PROGRAM-

The UBUNTU Movement USA, Inc. Morgan State University Faculty-led Study Abroad programs are designed as: Immersive Experiences in Afro-Caribbean Culture in Jamaica.” The theme reflects components of The African Diaspora Experience, a History course offered by the University. The program will focus on communities, events, and people of significance to the development of the region and its cultural resonance. Learning outcomes comprise: - An introduction into the “livity” of Afro-Caribbean people, including Rastafari - The natural, medicinal, cultural and spiritual practices and principles of the faith; - An understanding of the reparative elements of African-ancestral and Black faith systems, both in terms of individual well-being and the collective pursuit of justice; - An understanding of the interconnected nature of faith systems with healing arts, encompassing arts, foodways, etc. A practical induction into community-driven approaches to reparations These outcomes will be evaluated by: 1. a structured diary, wherein students will reflect on various learning activities undertaken through the course of the Summer Institute. 2. A final short verbal reflection on the experiences of program participants
